Trelleborg Receives Major Oil Transportation Contract in Mexico

Trelleborg’s offshore activities have been awarded a significant multi-million-greenback deal by Mexican state-owned petroleum firm, Pemex, for Elastopipe. This shall be put in onboard the Abkatun A complex in the Bay of Campeche in the Gulf of Mexico.

Morten Kristensen, enterprise group director at Trelleborg’s offshore center in Norway, says: “That is our first contract made directly with Pemex and the most important deal in our historical past for Trelleborg’s Elastopipe system. I’m happy to see that Elastopipe is regarded as a protected and reliable firewater system, which has resulted in Trelleborg profitable this order in such an aggressive market.

“The willingness from our clients worldwide to shift away from traditional piping strategies to a flexible rubber-based system is constructive, and we have been in a position to optimize customer necessities across our manufacturing, engineering, sales, and mission management staff. This would be the second, important step in improving the firewater techniques throughout the entire Abkatun A complex.”

This venture represents an essential way for Pemex and the Mexican officers to reveal their high regard for security onboard offshore platforms. Oscar Moran, Pemex states: “We’re eager to work with Trelleborg and JBC to further implement the Elastopipe arrangement onboard the Abkatun A complex.”

Elastopipe is a patented flexible piping system made for transporting a wide range of fluids and is understood for its corrosion-free, explosion, impact and jet fire-resistant properties. This next-gen piping technique makes use of synthetic rubber as a substitute for conventional materials and incorporates the only piping materials authorized for offshore deluge methods that have survived subsequent explosion, impact, and jet fire assessment.
